šŸ˜³ no one does new years resolutions like this

Why I asked my friends to sh*t on me for 6 hours

The School of Thought Newsletter

Make money with your mind, not your time.

No one does their new years resolutions like thisā€¦

To be honest, this strategy might upset your stomach.

You may even unsubscribe from this newsletter after reading it.

But before you do, hear me out.

As crazy as it sounds, this was the most profound way Iā€™ve ever rang in the new year.

What was it?

Doing an MDMA intervention with 3 of my closest friends.

I wonā€™t do it every year for fear of rotting my brain.

But damn am I happy I did it this yearā€¦

MDMA is seen as a wild party drug that people use to escape their problems.

That point aside, the power of MDMA therapy is insane.

So I said screw it.

And am so freakin happy I didā€¦

We took our dose around 7pm and went for a brisk walk in the Canada cold.

We laughed. Joked around. And shared how much love and respect we hold for one another.

When we returned to my house, we took a 2nd dose and thatā€™s when things got deep.

Real deep.

We sat in my living room and the intervention began.

One by one we shared:

ā– The big moments we let each other down

ā– The areas each of us has insane blind spots and weaknesses to improve on

In our loving mood, we were able to receive both good and bad feedback with an open heart.

No one got upset, offended, or felt the need to argue.

By the end of the night we felt emotionally lighter.

Like we could conquer the world.

We also had crystal clear clarity on what we need to work on in 2024.

In case youā€™re curious hereā€™s a few big blindspots of mineā€¦

My 3 Big Blindspots

1) Staying True to My Word

Coming from my closest friends, this one cut the deepest.

I was told I have a terrible habit of saying Iā€™ll do something but never following through.

This makes me hard to trust and rely on.

My girl friend later echoed this sentiment.

Saying itā€™s the 1 thing I can improve on the most.

How do I plan to fix it?

By being careful of the commitments I make to myself and others.

Back in November, I told my girl friend I wouldnā€™t do MDMA for at least another 4 months.

On December 31st, I was rolling - 45 days later.

Such a small thing, but these little broken promises add up.

And define your character over time.

Choose your commitments wisely.

Stay true to your word.

2) Practice More; Study Less

Itā€™s no secret that Iā€™m a book worm.

I used to read 100+ books a year.

But Iā€™ve reached a place where I no longer need to over-index on knowledge.

Iā€™ve taken almost every course from Xā€™s top creators.

And read most popular copywriting, business, and self help books.

Itā€™s time to put that knowledge into practice:

ā– Handwriting copy

ā– Creating content every day

ā– And practicing my hook writingā€¦

Will benefit my business far more than rereading the best copywriting books ever could.

Read to acquire knowledge.

Practice to turn knowledge into wisdom.

3) Stop Being so Arrogant

People on X often tell me Iā€™m humble.

But my friends know I have an arrogant side.

I often refer to people as NPCā€™s and Mortyā€™s.

Without knowing it, this is a subtle way of looking down on those people.

You canā€™t be a leader while looking down on your followers.

So this year, I made a promise to myself:

Remember that everyone has something to teach me.

The other day, I attended an ice bath event with my girl friends friends.

One of them wasnā€™t obsessed with self improvement like I am.

But he is an amazing massage therapist.

All night, I asked him questions:

ā– How do I find tight muscles?

ā– How do I massage for an hour without my thumbs hurting?

ā– How do I massage my girl friend without getting horny and making a move on her?

(Still no solution to that last one. I simply find my girl friend too damn sexy šŸ˜‰).

You can learn something from everyone.

Never let arrogance trick you into thinking you know it all.

And there you have it.

Hopefully this gives you insight into an unconventional way to start the new year.

Iā€™m not advocating for drug use. You need to make that choice for yourself.

With that said, that night was one of the most impactful experiences of my life.

And may cement itself into my top 5 favorite moments of 2024.
