The Simmonds Signal
Alternate education for creators (that school can’t teach you)
Microwriter → Microbrand → microbusiness
In 2015, my dad got an unexpected call from my kindergarten teacher.
Before graduating to grade 1, each student was asked to answer questions about their future ambitions.
The answers were then buried in a time capsule.
And wouldn't see the light of day until 15 years later.
That Christmas my dad put it in my stocking as a surprise.
It's hilarious how on the money the answers are.
My best toy:
"My Pokemon."
(Still is; I have a Mew plushie from Japan in my room).
What I really want to remember in 15 years is:
"How much I like computers."
In the year 2015, I will be:
"Driving and going to school."
This paper took me back and got me thinking.
When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always say "a teacher".
(Well, that and Batman but the whole super hero thing never worked out).
Funny enough, now I teach from my computer.
So I wasn't far off.
This journey has been both fulfilling and heartbreaking because of how badly I've failed as one…
Why Most Teachers Fail Their Students
I've been a digital writer and creator for 2 and a half years.
Before that, I was a college teacher for 7.
Teaching fulfilled my dreams.
But left me with pennies.
My co-workers often wondered why I stayed for such a low salary.
My answer?
I love teaching and adore my students.
Watching them grow was the highlight of my week.
It made handing in my notice to scale my digital business bitter sweet.
Which is why I was so eager to get back in the teaching chair last September, with my personal branding cohort, Digital Identity.
Anxious to deliver as much value as possible, I stacked the curriculum.
Full of models, lessons, systems, bonuses, and guest masterclasses.
My students said the cohort had 10x the content of every other cohort.
I was proud of that…
… Until recently.
After feedback from some students, and a gut-feeling from my co-founder and I, we realized something crucial:
More doesn't always mean better.
In our efforts to create a valuable product, we made it too complex.
And less beginner friendly.
In an educational context, value isn't about quantity of information.
It's about value per second.
What do I mean by this?
In the AI age, you can learn anything on the internet for free (fast).
So people no longer pay for information.
They pay for clarity and results.
Which Digital Identity wasn't optimized for (but what I'm about to show you is).
Sure, it got members like Darion, David, Shayan, Andrew, and others money and followers.
But I know many more would have benefited from a simpler curriculum.
Which is why I'm losing sleep to right my wrongs…
Introducing Microcreators
Microcreators is the love-child of my greatest accomplishments and my greatest failures.
Yes.
A community, cohort, and digital course, all in one.
It's not just another community - it's what we call a "community-cohort hybrid".
And we're not just trying to be different for the sake of being different…
… We scrapped the worst of both, and kept the best.
Because we've found that:
1) Cohorts cover too much, too fast, making it hard to get results.
So we added weekly live mastermind calls so you can learn at your own pace, bring your questions, and get clarity in real time.
2) Communities are often just unstructured libraries of information.
So we course-ified our community with 3 tiered courses that walk you through the Microcreator journey, step-by-step.
3) Courses focus too much on theory and not enough on application.
So we paired each section with simple, actionable systems that will get you over the first major hump - actually taking action (and coming away with finished writing).
Microcreators is built in collaboration with our community's beta members and the graduates of Digital Identity.
They tore each section apart to make sure it was simple, beginner friendly, and easy to follow.
The result?
Maximum value per second.
I can confidently say that nothing like this exists in the creator economy (yet).
Here's a sneak peak of what's inside:
3 University Level Courses
1) Microwriter (Releasing on Launch Day)
Master digital writing to create quality content that attracts attention (and followers).
2) Microbrand (Coming Soon)

3) Microbusiness (Coming Soon)

Recently, I was asked on the Christian LaBosco Podcast, what product am I most proud of.
Without hesitation, I said Microcreators.
It's the single greatest achievement of my professional career.
Even more so than:
❖ Making $500,000 in 2023
❖ Becoming a College teacher
❖ Writing for Forbes 30 under 30 founders
And we're just getting started.
The launch date will be announced soon.
